Interested Potential Mentees

Overview of Hephzibah Mountain Aster Academy
  • For graduate students this is a supplement to degree-granting programs, not a replacement; the HMAA Mentoring Programs provide one-on-one interactive sessions intended to bring insight into the research process for the mentee and leading them to produce a high-quality research product useable within their degree program or as an independent publishable research paper.

  • For post-doc researchers and professional academics, the HMAA Mentoring Programs provide a personalized creative engagement leading to the production of a publishable piece of humanities-based research.

Fees & Benefits

Application Fee:

After an initial consultation with the Rector, there is an initial, non-refundable fee for the vetting and assessment of a new application. This will be paid when the application is submitted online.

The HMAA Rector and board will review the application once this payment has been received.

Mentoring Program Fees:

The fees associated with the particular mentoring program identified by the HMAA mentee may be discussed in more detail with the HMAA Rector in both the initial consultation and in the post-application consultation.

The fees associated with the mentee-specific program vary according to:

  •  The frequency of mentoring sessions

    • Normal: Once a week in a two-hour session.

    • Intensive: Twice a week in two two-hour sessions.

  •  The length of the mentoring program

    • Normal: From two weeks to five months

    • Intensive: From one week to five months

The associated program fees may be paid within two weeks after the designated schedule for mentoring program has been confirmed,

or in two parts (50% of the total within two weeks after the designated timing of the mentoring program has been confirmed, and the remaining 50% is due upon arrival at the Academy venue for the first mentoring session).

Additional Fees not covered:

The fees associated with the HMAA Mentoring Programs are only related to the initial application and for the whole of the mentoring process and specific assignments and/or practices determined for any one person on a particular research project proposal.

As a consequence, they do not include costs involved in:

  • travel to and from the location of the Academy (Colorado, U.S.A.)

  • costs for room and board during the period of the mentoring program

At this time, the HMAA does not provide scholarships for prospective mentees or grants to cover any of the other costs.

It is assumed that any confirmed mentee will seek funding from their own institution or from other sources in order to cover all costs related to the mentoring program and their stay
